Buyer Trap vs a Genuine Breakout

Evaluate breakout quality with acceptance, follow-through, volume, delta, and failed-auction evidence.

A comparison sequence

  • Locate the breakout relative to prior value and visible liquidity.
  • Measure whether aggressive buying produces sustained progress or stalls.
  • Watch for acceptance above the level, retest behavior, and opposing absorption.
  • Define failure before acting on the interpretation.

No pattern is certain

A trap label is retrospective unless supported by sequence and failure evidence. Use risk limits because a weak-looking breakout can continue.

Review step

Save a before-and-after capture, then review the observations against the rules written in advance. Do not redefine success after seeing the outcome.
